lately
Last week I wrapped up my last Peru post. We took that trip in April and here we are in June. So let's do a run through of all that has happened since then. Where do I even start?
Let's start with the youngest child. H has been playing basketball this season and it has been tough.. they have been on a losing streak.. 9 loses and then finally they had a win. All the parents and grandparents.. everyone in the crowd was saying some kind of prayer at this point.. let the boys have a win and they did!
H also took part in the school science fair.
The last time H participated in the science fair was when he was in kindergarten and he had done an experiment with D and now he is wrapping up 3rd grade.. A perfect bookend to his years in elementary school.
Things in D's life have been less eventful but very very busy as he wraps up his first year of high school. He has sat for one AP class exam, an accelerated Spanish test to see if he can skip a level next year and has a week of finals coming up. As for his eye.. the parasite is dead. For any new readers I have explained his eye situation here and a more detailed update here. We have been weaning off drops and are now focusing on his vision. All the drops and the parasite itself has left behind some scarring on his cornea so the doctor has started us off on a new drop that is supposed to help reduce the scarring.
May was also Mother's Day and we had so many mothers in the house. Starting from the left. My mother in law, then me and my mom in the middle and my great aunt on the left. My mom lives on a different continent and my great aunt in a different state so it was a happy coincidence that we all found ourselves together on this day.
For Memorial Day weekend, since M's parents hadn't been to Niagara Falls in over a decade and wanted to go back we decided to make the drive. It was M and my 4th time visiting the falls (only once together) but they still take your breath away, don't they?
Above is Horseshoe below is both American and Bridal
We later crossed the Rainbow Bridge on foot to re enter America and check out the falls from that side.
On the Thursday M and I went to go see the Knicks play at MSG. It was the 6th playoff game and it was a great game. The Knicks played so well and won. The energy was incredible, in the stadium and out. The traffic was insane and it took us over two hours to get home.. but it was so worth it.
And with that May comes to an end.
Glorious captures and beautiful smiles.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it good they finally won a game, gives the team a boost.
ReplyDeleteThe eye seems to be coming along ok, hopefully the new drops help with the scarring.
The falls are beautiful and always good to see in all seasons not matter what the weather is like.
Nice photo of you and the Mother's on the day.
Take care.
What a wonderful way to celebrate Mother's Day. I love all those happy smiling faces and am very, very glad that the parasite it dead.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your June.
So glad the parasite is dead! It's been years since I've been to Niagara.

Your boys are growing up so quickly. I love how you celebrate life with them!
ReplyDeleteI love Niagara Falls and have been there a few times myself. What spectacular shots you got! Going close to the Horseshoe Falls in the boat is so much spray-filled fun!
ReplyDeleteThe science fair looks as though a lot of work went into it. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice for children to participate in music, in any way, but playing an instrument is really special.
It's wonderful that D's eye is now entering another phase of treatment (that sounds as though it's going independently of D!) Much relief all round, I'm sure.
Niagara Falls is/are stunning. The power is incredible and worth getting soaked for.
thank you for the update! I will pray d's scarring heals and his vision restored! I loved seeing what the kids are doing and this school year has flown by for me, lol.

ReplyDeletecongrats to the boys for making it through another year. I sure hope D's eyes can get better with the new drops. How special all you ladies could be together at the same time. Looks like it was a wet day at the falls :) We have only gone on the American side, maybe one day we will get back and go on the Canadian side.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a busy but great May with lots of family quality time! I'm glad to hear D's been doing better and hope the new drops will help with the scarring and vision. The Niagara Falls do look impressive, I'd love to visit them too one day.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear the parasite is gone! I pray recovery continues smoothly!
ReplyDeleteThis is always such a busy time of year with school things but also fun. I loved the science fair days! I'm glad the eye parasite is dead and things are improving. I loved the mom photo of all of you on Mother's Day! Niagra Falls looks amazing. I still haven't been there but one day! The Knicks were playing right after my daughter's graduation at MSG. I saw how crazy the fans got that night! I hope you're having a great week.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your updates! Your perspective on everyday moments is refreshing, and I love how you capture the essence of life’s little joys.
ReplyDeleteNiagara Falls looks like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteLove all the end of the year school things. Didn't do as many with my niece and nephew this year. But they still had them all. This will be my niece's 8th grade year coming up, so I'm sure there will be lots of end of middle school events next May. Niagara Falls is somewhere I would love to go some time. Looks so neat! What a great time to have all the mothers together! Have a great week!

Even on a gray day, those photos show off the falls as stunning! I've never been there, but that feels like a place I could realistically visit. So it's on my list. :) Hope June is just as exciting and fun for you all!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I'm glad you enjoyed your recent trip!
ReplyDeleteThat is good news about your son's eye. How nice that all the mothers were able to get together for Mother's Day. Niagara Falls is so fun!

ReplyDeleteThat Mother's Day photo of you and your relatives is gorgeous! xxx
Loved the mother's day photo and glad things are blessed for D.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear your son's eye is healing. I hope he continues to get better with each day. Niagra Falls is beautiful, and it sounds like you went around the same time as I visited the Falls. So nice that you were all there to spend Mother's Day together. I like your daisy sweater. ; )

It would be discouraging to lose so many games in a row so I'm happy they won at last! Great news about D's eye! Looks like you had a wonderful time at Niagara Falls! It is breathtaking. I hope to visit in person someday.
ReplyDeleteBless that sweet D. What a struggle he has had with this parasite. Hoping the new drops work wonders in repairing/reducing the scarring on his cornea. Poor angel.
ReplyDeleteGlad H's basketball team finally got a W!! It takes a village sometimes - with all the prayer - to get things done!!
What a lovely quartet of Moms in your Mother's Day picture. Sounds like a lovely time having everyone together. Mother's Day was a very nice day for me...we went hiking at an especially pretty spot 30 minutes from home.
Haven't been to Niagra Falls since I was a young girl but it seems to me it is always gray at the falls!! They are quite impressive, aren't they?
I completely get that praying for H's basketball team; my oldest played for 2 seasons and his team never won a singe game! So glad to hear the parasite is dead. Hopefully the new drops help his cornea heal well. I bet it was lovely to have all the moms together and Niagara falls is always a fun trip.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun!! I love the smiles.
ReplyDeleteMy parents went to Niagara Falls for their honeymoon... long, long ago. ;-)
that's scary about your son's eye! hope all is well eventually.
